LALISA (Latin American, Latino, and Iberian Studies Association of the Pacific Northwest) was formed in the Fall of 2013 in the framework of
the yearly retreat sponsored by the Mellon Foundation and the Northwest Five Consortium. At this event a group of professors from Lewis & Clark College, Reed College, the University of Puget Sound, Whitman College, and Willamette University realized the necessity of having an organization that
would foster projects that involved sharing research, resources, and opportunities. Specifically, this association promotes collaborative ventures
including workshops, study groups, curriculum development, speaker series, faculty exchanges, study abroad programs, and a regional conference.

Membership in LALISA is free and is open to anyone with a scholarly interest in Latin American, Latino, or Iberian studies.
