Meet Your Teacher - Mrs. Henderson

This is my first year as a Legacy teacher, but I am not new to the field of education. I was born and raised in Bloomington, Illinois and did my undergrad studies at Illinois Wesleyan University. I attended Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas and stayed in the Dallas area after graduation to teach at Trinity Christian School. While at Trinity I taught pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, remedial reading grades 1-6 and ran the after school program. When my children were in elementary school, I moved to Minnesota to help my father care for my grandmother. After moving to Minnesota, I got my Masters in Education from Bethel University and taught kindergarten, 2nd grade and 6th grade Bible at Maranatha Christian Academy. Most recently I was the pre-kindergarten and lower school principal at Maranatha.

After my plans to move south fell through last year, I took a long term substitute teaching position at LCA in the high school. I fell in love with the kids and the Legacy community. I count it an honor to be serving in the elementary school at LCA and am looking forward to a great school year!

I am also an author. In addition to Bible curriculum, I have written articles for Focus on the Family and have stories in the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. My children's books, the Howie series, were published by Zonderkids, a division of Harper Collins for their I Can Read line. I also wrote a Christian romance novel.
