Hello Students and Families,

I hope you are well and finding the redeeming aspects of being home. As you hopefully have read the school will be offering ‘Continuous Learning’ opportunities starting this week. Since we have been out of school I have made several posts in Google Classroom and will continue to do so serval times a week along with responding to messages and providing feedback. I have set up a Google Voice number to serve as a proxy for my school phone number Mr. Voorhees (360) 320-6412 you can call or text this number for any school-related business as well as email pvoorhees@lc.k12.wa.us .

Additionally, I will be using Zoom to video call/conference 3 times a week for each class there will be a link posted in Google classroom for each class meeting.

Here is my planned schedule (This is just for Mr. Voorhees Classes)

Monday: All 8 Periods: Advisory + Periods 1-7: Go over the plan for the week including any offered readings, videos, or activities and in general just touch base.

8:30 am Advisory

8:45 am 1st Period

9:00 am 2nd Period

9:15 am 3rd Period

9:30 am 4th Period

9:45 am 5th Period

10:00 am 6th Period

10:15 am 7th Period

Tuesday: Advisory + 1, 2, & 3: Check-in on how the activities for the week are going, Q & A.

8:30 am Advisory

9:00 am 1st Period

9:30 am 2nd Period

10:00 am 3rd Period

Wednesday: Periods 4, 5, 6, & 7: Check-in on how the activities for the week are going, Q & A.

8:30 am 4th Period

9:00 am 5th Period

Thursday: Advisory + 1, 2, & 3: Have an informed conversation based on the weeks’ materials and share your thoughts during the Zoom meeting and/or in Google Classroom.

Friday: Periods 4, 5, 6, & 7: Have an informed conversation based on the week’s materials and share your thoughts during the Zoom meeting and/or in Google Classroom.

My goal is to start with a <10-minute video call for these classes to check-in and eventually, have a class discussion as we get more comfortable with the platform. Just as a check-in Monday mornings and then push continuous learning materials out every other day.

Grading expectations at this time are still unclear and developing. What I think it will be is a Pass/No Credit at least so my expectations to start will be along the lines of 'Are you making an effort to be engaged in the learning opportunities available given your situation?' I hope to be informed enough of your current situation to make a solid judgment. There will be some sort of paper packet available at some point but I am unsure about distribution and it will be less engaging and dynamic.
