Thank you for participating in Berkeley Lab's Workplace Environment Survey!
Congratulations to our raffle winners!
Congratulations to David Freitas (Sr. Laborer) of Facilities, and Mauro Melli (Postdoc) of Materials Sciences for being selected as the winners of the Berkley Lab Workplace Environment Survey raffle! Both of them won an Apple iPad that has been provided to them by UCOP. Data from the Workplace Environment Survey, and the survey analysis from UCOP’s external Vendor (Rankin and Associates) will be available sometime at the end of this year. A team from the Laboratory\'s Diversity and Inclusion Council will review and conduct further analyses of the data to develop an action plan.

The University of California is committed to creating and supporting inclusive and welcoming environments on each of our campuses and across all our statewide locations. LBNL is participating with the rest of the UC system in conducting a survey to gather a wide variety of data related to work environments and work-life issues.
We want to know about your experiences working for LBNL, and what we can do to make them better.
Across the system, this project is referred to as the “campus climate assessment,” and is the largest climate survey ever conducted in higher education. (UCOP defines "climate" as: "current attitudes, behaviors, and standards of employees and students concerning the access for, inclusion of, and level of respect for individual and group needs, abilities, and potential.") The survey is structured in 4 areas: personal experiences, work-life, demographic information, and perception of campus climate.
The survey becomes available on January 15, 2013 and ends on February 5, 2013.
The first phase of the study is data gathering through the survey, so participation by everyone is critical to our success. LBNL will identify one to two actions that we can undertake to improve the work environment. Per UC, raw data of all results from each UC site will be posted on the University of California, Office of the President website as they are available, beginning in the Spring 2013: http://campusclimate.ucop.edu/results/index.html. Data analysis will be available in Fall 2013.
