Welcome to Lawrence Berkeley
National Laboratory's subsurface data access site.
For the 1940s and 1950s this reveals a link to the geotechnical files generated that decade. For all decades after the 1950s, clicking on the gray arrow provides a list of years in the decade. Clicking on the gray arrow for a particular year provides links to one or both of the data sets. The two data sets available are:
1) “Geotechnical” - This provides access to the LBNL’s geotechnical files
for the selected time period, some of which include boring logs. These files
consist primarily of geotechnical reports prepared by engineering consultants
making recommendations for designing structures at the lab. The geotechnical
files also include consultant reports regarding landslides, landslide repairs
and field notes.
The documents are in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing. You may download a free copy of the software from Adobe's website.
