English Language Arts: For the 2018-19 school year, the 7th-8th grades will continue to work with our new English Language Arts curriculum called StudySync published by McGraw Hill. This will offer additional learning tools to ensure your child is ready to meet the demands of the 21st Century. This is a technology-rich, cross-curricular literary curriculum that is adopted across California.

This curriculum is the adopted course to meet English Language Arts standards county-wide in El Dorado County, and has been active in classrooms for four years. If you have a chance, check out the brochure that covers the program in detail. We are very excited to be heading in this path to bring excitement, engagement, and connection to education and our students.

Both in 7th and 8th grades, Studysync will be supplemented by rich novel studies where discussions, written responses, and guided comprehension support will be implemented throughout the year.

Speechwriting will be soon on the docket for our 8th graders. Topics will be coming soon. With the enormous growth of our writing capabilities from last year, guidance, structure, and peer support will be offered in class. However, it will not involve the kind of step-by-step construction in class that students saw last year. They are SO ready!

History: We have newly adopted history curriculum for both 7th and 8th grades. It is published by Teachers' Curriculum Institute (TCI). It is a hybrid online/on-paper program that brings high student engagement and inquiry as students fulfill both the CA History Content Standards, as well as the newly updated History and Social Studies Framework.
