Larsen & Associates, based in Lawrence, KS, has been in business since 1992. We perform environmental investigations including drilling, probing, and sample collection across the state.

Our field crew leaves Monday and is back Thursday or Friday. Work is year round: no seasonal layoffs.  

Current Job Openings:  

GEOLOGIST - Full time

Complete project tasks:

o         Keep field notes according to state and company standards.

Prepare field team for field work:

o         Calibrate the PID.

o         Ensure the team is properly equipped for the work (supplies, per diem, work orders, project information, etc.)

Field team work:

o         Help with coordinating team efforts in the field.

o         Ensure all equipment is maintained according to manufacturer and company standards.

o         Ensure all client and company safety requirements are adhered to during field activities.

o         Be the point of contact between the company and the public as well as local, state, and federal government agencies.

o         Help with all field tasks to ensure they are completed on time and according to state and company standards.

1.        Help with Drilling operations:

§          Decontaminate sampling equipment according to state and company standards.

§          Notify management of maintenance and repair needs.

§          Assist drill crew as needed.

2.        Install, plug, and repair wells:

§          Set wells correctly according to state and company standards.

§          Install well vaults according to state and company standards.

§          Remove well pads according to state and company standards.

§          Plug wells according to state and company standards.

§          Identify and document what repair is necessary for wells in disrepair.

§          Repair wells, pads, replace manhole covers, etc., as necessary according to state and company standards.

3.        Sample wells:

§          Measure water level according to state and company standards.

§          Purge water according to state and company standards.

§          Collect water samples according to state and company standards.

§          Maintain samples according to state and company standards.

§          Complete and maintain chain of custody according to state and company standards.

4.        Remove product from wells:

§          Measure free product level according to state and company standards.

§          Measure water level according to state and company standards.

§          Purge free product according to state and company standards.

§          Purge water according to state and company standards.

§          Change absorbent sock according to state and company standards.

 

o         Perform field tasks specifically required to be done by a Geologist:

1.        Record borings to state and company standards

2.        Take PID readings

3.        Complete supporting paperwork (sample forms, etc.) according to state and company standards.

Other duties as assigned including but not limited to:

o         Work with other team members to ensure work is done on time and according to state and company standards.

o       Help organize team to perform efficiently.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

o     30 college credit hours in geology or a related field.

o     Valid driver's license.

o     Preferred: four (4) year degree in Geology or related field.

o     Preferred: OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training.
