Greetings from the art room! My name is David Henke, I am the Kindergarten through 12th Grade visual arts teacher at Lanesville Community Schools. I have been teaching art since the fall of 1988. I earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in K-12 Art Education at Oakland City University in 1986. In 1991 I earned an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Art Education at Indiana University. I earned a Masters Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2000.


    I am an active member of the Art Education Association of Indiana and the National Art Education Association. I have been a presenter at state conferences and retreats in ceramics and gifted and talented art education. I recently hosted a deconstruction ceramics workshop for AEAI District 7 art teachers in December 2018 here at LCS.

My wife Karla and I have been married for 24 years. We have 4 children. Kirsten graduated from the University of Louisville and earned degree in Dental Hygiene in May 2019. Klaire is a sophomore at Ivy Tech. Our only son, Johnathan is a sophomore at Lanesville Jr.-Sr. High School. The youngest, Bella, was adopted about 3 years ago. Bell is in the third grade at Lanesville Elementary School. My two older daughters graduated from Lanesville Jr/-Sr. High School.

I have an art studio of my own at home. My two main media are ceramics and acrylic painting. Also enjoy watercolor and mixed media collage.
