Winton's Mill was near Seven Mile. "Matthew Winton came very early, and settled near Seven Mile," said the 1882 history. "His one-story stone house was where the railroad depot later stood. Among other possessions of his was a corn-cracker, just south of where the town is now. It was then the first and only mill of that vicinity, and answered the purpose of a grist mill, but instead of grinding, it simply cracked the grain."
