Watson's Mill

Watson's Mill was built by Millwright Joseph Watson on the west side of the Great Miami River, south of Rossville. He built a dam in the river to bring water to the mill. Mrs. Heiser said he built it on "a curve in the river which offered a splendid situation for a mill race. Sometime prior to 1814, Mr. Watson evidently built the dam and mile-long race, which made an island of the land owned by the Riley family." Traber's Mill was on the east bank of the river. Later, Watson built the Fear Not Mill on Four Mile Creek, and the Trabers bought the Watson Mill on the river, owning operations on both sides until 1824, when they dissolved their partnership." (See Traber's Mill and Riley's Island.)
