Voice of America Learning Center (VOALC), east side of Cox Road between Hamilton-Mason and Tylersville roads, West Chester Twp. The proposed VOALC, according to a Miami University brochure, "will be a multi-institutional instructional facility, bringing together the resources of higher education and workforce development institutions to meet the educational and training needs of individuals, business, industry, school districts and government agencies." A 21,000-square foot building is proposed, including a 120-seat auditorium. The brochure also explains: "When the federal government began to process of decommissioning the former Voice of America Relay Station . . . In 1995, Miami University joined with Butler County MetroParks and West Chester Twp. In applying for the transfer of the land. . . . In July 1996 Miami University applied to the U. S. Department of Education for 20 acres to serve as the location for the Voice of America Learning Center. Miami's application was approved, and the university received title to the land in September 2000." Planning and development was assigned to Miami's regional campuses in Hamilton and Middletown. An opening in 2006 is planned, depending on funding. See Bethany Station for Voice of America history.
