Veterans Memorial at Woodside Cemetery

 Veterans Memorial at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, was dedicated July 4, 2004. The memorial -- 54 feet long and eight feet high -- included the names of 331 armed service personnel who gave their lives while in uniform, starting with the Mexican War. On the list are three Medal of Honor recipients -- Patrick Kessler, World War II; William S. Barber, Korean War; and Gordon R. Roberts, Vietnam War. Those honored were from Middletown, Monroe, Trenton, Poasttown, Jacksonburg, Lemon Twp., Madison Twp. and Liberty Twp. The memorial was designed by Mort Kunstler, who was described as "the foremost Civil War artist of our time -- if not of all time" by Dr. James I. Robertson St., Civil War historian and author.
