Springdale -- formerly Springfield -- is in Hamilton County, but its northern border is the Butler County line. The city touches both Fairfield (Ohio 4) and west Chester Township (Ohio 747). Crescentville Road, east of Ohio 4, forms much of Springdale's northern border. The town was platted Aug. 23, 1806, by John Baldwin. "It was then and for many years known as Springfield," said the 1881 History of Hamilton County by Ford and Ford, "but for postal reasons was compelled to take its present name." The same source said Springdale was incorporated as a village March 16, 1839. Also see Fairfield Dog Track, also Springdale Amusement Co.
