South Highlands is a residential area in southeast Middletown, south of Grand Avenue from Highland Street to Jackson Lane. The plat for the 142-acre development was filed Nov. 1, 1928, by Charles T. Goldman, C. T. Goldman and Marcus Goldman, according to George Crout. "It was originally part of the Goldman farm," Crout said. "Simon Goldman had been the pioneer Jewish merchant of Middletown, and had purchased property in the east end, which his children inherited and developed. Goldman Park was presented to the city in their honor."
