Red Lion

Red Lion is in Warren County, east of Middletown at the intersection of Ohio routes 122, 123 and 741. The Warren County Genealogical Society web site says: "Originally called Westfield by Abner Crane who platted it in 1817, but the Red Lion Tavern became so well known that common usage called for a change of name. Post office established Feb. 2, 1834, with John S. Todd, postmaster."

The tavern sign has been described as a red lion standing on its hind legs with fore paws extended.
