Recreational Sports Center -- commonly called the Rec Center -- opened in 1994 on the Miami University campus in Oxford. According to a university guide, the $22 million center "features a world-class aquatics center (50-meter pool, separate diving well, leisure pool and spa), two-story fitness center, 40-foot climbing wall, suspended track, four gymnasium courts, aerobics rooms and the Outdoor Pursuit Center." It is between Campus Avenue and Oak Street, north of Chestnut Street, presently at the southeast corner of the campus. The complex includes the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center with an eight-lane 50-meter pool and a separate 25-meter diving well. Corwin M. Nixon of Warren County was a member of the Ohio General Assembly for 30 years, including 14 as majority leader.
