Peoria -- originally called Ingleside -- is on the Ohio-Indiana line in Franklin County, Indiana, west of Section 19 in Reily Township.It was a stop on the Cincinnati, Richmond and Muncie Railroad (later the Chesapeake & Ohio). On some maps, it also is placed in Butler County. The name is of Indian origin. The Peoria were a sub tribe of the Illinois.
