Peffer Memorial Park -- at the southeast edge of Oxford -- is one of several Miami University preserves. "On the perimeter of the campus," explains a university guide, "the Bachelor Reserve and other natural areas encompass more than 1,000 acres that are preserved and protected for approved uses in recreation, observation, education and research." The guide says "the trails are open to the public year-round." Peffer Park is west of Millville-Oxford Road (U. S. 27) and south of Chestnut Street on Collins Creek. It includes a one-mile nature trail on the park's perimeter, and access to the 1.4-mile Western Woods Trail.
