Monroe

Monroe was originally in Lemon Township around the intersection of Cincinnati-Dayton Road (old U. S. 25) and Hamilton-Lebanon Road (better known now as Ohio 63). Now it extends east across I-75 into Warren County, and west to Ohio 4, LeSourdsville and the Great Miami River. Monroe was founded in 1817 by John H. Piatt and Nathaniel Sackett. It was named for James Monroe, the fifth president, who was inaugurated in March of 1817 and served until 1825.
