Milford Township

Milford Township was one of the two new townships formed by Butler County commissioners Dec. 2, 1805. Milford Township was taken from St. Clair Township, one of the five original townships. Also formed Dec. 2, 1805, was Wayne Township, also taken from St. Clair Township. The 1875 atlas said an early resident, Robert Lytle, "named the township Milford in honor of his nativity -- Milford Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania."
