Macedonia is where sections 17, 18, 19 and 20 meet in Morgan Township at the intersection of California and Okeana-Drewersburg roads. "This area was also known as California," according to A Self-Guided Driving Tour of Historic Morgan Township. Macedonia is not identified on recent maps published by the Butler County engineer's office. The 1882 history of Butler County indicates there was a school at that location about 1840 when "Gershom Rude, who was preaching at the Christian Church at Harrison, as well as working at the blacksmith trade, made occasional visits to the neighborhood of Macedonia, and preached to the people of that section in the old schoolhouse district No. 4." There is a Macedonia in Summit County, north of Akron, Ohio. There is the Macedonia region in the central Balkan peninsula, northwest of the Aegean Sea and including parts of Greece, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslavia.
