Little Prairie is described as "the first settlement within the boundaries of Lemon Township" and "previously occupied by a band of Indians" in Robert E. Arnett's A History of the Amanda Community (1976). It was in the area at the mouth of Dick's Creek (Section 31). Arnett said "it was a natural meadow that extended on both sides of the Miami River, more than a mile in length and a half mile wide. The north end of the prairie came up to the southern boundary of Middletown (in 1882)." See Orangedale.
