Ixworth was a flag stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad (now Norfolk Southern) in Fairfield Township on the line between Sections 35 and 36. It is now in the City of Hamilton at the present Bobmeyer Road crossing. It was the site of the deadliest crossing accident in Butler County. Nine persons in one family were killed Sunday afternoon, July 26, 1936, when their westbound auto was struck by a northbound PRR passenger train. Automatic flashing warning lights were installed 19 years later (1955).
