Brown's Run

Brown's Run, lying between Twin Creek on the east and Elk Creek, empties into the Great Miami River just north of the Hook Field, the Middletown airport.

George Crout said "it is named for Richard Brown who came to Madison Township in 1798 when a remnant of a Shawnee tribe, led by Chief Tomy Killbuck, still lived in the area along the present-day Killbuck Creek in the area known as Shiloh." Crout said "the mouth of Brown's Run once served as the baptizing hole for the Primitive Baptist Church at Mount Pleasant, a hilltop overlooking Poasttown. The waters of Brown's Run once powered several waterwheels that ran gristmills, sawmills and even a woolen mill."
