Broadberry's Mill

Broadberry's Mill, said the 1882 county history, was one and a half miles below Darrtown and included a stillhouse. In her book, Mrs. Heiser said "in 1818 James Broadberry built a gristmill and sawmill on Four Mile, half a mile below the Darrtown Pike. He operated his mills for a quarter of a century."

She said "before the days of the Miami Canal, he built flatboats, holding them in readiness for a spring freshet, when he floated them down (the creek) and sold (them) to Hamilton and Rossville merchants who had cargoes ready for the New Orleans market."
