Beckett Park

Beckett Park, on Beckett Road, West Chester Twp., is a 150-acre park in the heart of the Union Centre business area. According to plans, Beckett Park will feature lakes, playgrounds, athletic fields and a community conference and training facility. Beckett Park was purchased to replace McGinnis Park on Cox Road. The master plan for Beckett Park uses existing landscape, including the Beckett Ridge hillside. Baseball and soccer fields are available.

Muhlhauser Barn Conference Center is an 1800s timber-frame barn that was once part of the Muhlhauser family farm. It is planned to be the basis for a corporate training and conference center and community meeting space. The barn was dismantled in 2003 and will be rebuilt at Beckett Park. The updated structure also would include space for small community theater productions, meetings and other gatherings. The barn was donated by the Ohio Casualty Group and the Muhlhauser family financed its dismantling. Reconstruction of the barn will be financed through tax-increment financing (TIF) generated by businesses in the Union Centre district. The project had not been started by the end of 2006.
