"I work not only for the gathering and assimilation of knowledge, but also to teach that one can be brilliant without being arrogant, that great intellectual capacity brings great responsibility, that the quest for knowledge should never supplant the joy of learning, that one with great capacities must learn to be tolerant and appreciate those with lesser or different absolutes, and that these students can compete with any students at any school, anyplace in the world."

For the daily agenda and PRACTICE for the day, please refer to the "Class News" section of the MiSTAR web resource to monitor your student. For a prompt response to any questions, comments, or concerns, please email me at chapmant@lamphereschools.org. Or you may call my classroom phone number 248-589-3428, ext. 2783 and I will return your call as soon as possible (typically within the next school day).

FEEL FREE to look at the "Important and Useful Documents" link on the left of this page if you are in search of some tips, pointers, or strategies in helping your child succeed!

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW... If you are missing any of the notes, make sure you get them either from a friend or from this website. Click on "Social Studies Resources" or "Current Events and Technology Resources" (on the top left side of my site) and then find the appropriate set of notes to help you. This means that if you are absent, it is up to YOU to get the notes ASAP!! You are responsible.

It is EXPECTED of all students and family members that you check your individual grades at least once a week. This will help you maintain a more accurate grade representation.

ALSO... If a student ever misses any day(s) of school, or is out of class for any reason, THAT STUDENT is responsible for asking and obtaining any and all work they need to make up in a timely manner (check the "Class News" section on MiStar). You can access all of the Unit Assignments we do in the "Social Studies Printable Assignments" or "Current Events and Technology Printable Assignments" section on the top left side of my site. All assignments (that can be made up) NOT turned in are entered as a zero until the time they are turned in. Remember- MISSING ASSIGNMENTS are the easiest way to falter in this class.

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING ALL NECESSARY MATERIALS TO CLASS EVERY DAY. THESE INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO) NOTEBOOK, FOLDER, PEN/PENCIL, TEXTBOOK (IF THEY WERE GIVEN OUT), AND LOOSELEAF PAPER.

"Successful is the person who has lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of others, who leaves the world better than they found it, who has never lacked appreciation for the earth’s beauty, who never fails to look for the best in others or give the best of themselves."

RESPECT
Treating others as if they exist, they have relevance, and they are not of any danger to you or the world. And in even more positive cases, respect is the admiration of others for doing something well.
"Knowledge will give you power, but character will give you respect."
