  Dear Band Families,                                                                                                

As summer’s end draws near and another school year begins many exciting experiences await your band student(s). Being involved in the Lamphere District instrumental music program is a great way to make those experiences even better.

As President of the Lamphere Band Boosters it’s my honor to invite all the families with band students 5th grade and up to our annual Ice cream social September 10th beginning at 2:30pm. This is a great opportunity to visit with other band families, meet new friends with similar interests, explore the many ways to get involved and best of all watch the marching band run through this year’s show!

On September 24th Lamphere is hosting the 17th annual Lamphere Band invitational. This is usually our biggest fundraising opportunity and the Band boosters have developed a reputation for hosting a highly regarded event. This of course requires a lot of effort. With your help we are sure to once again succeed. I’m asking on behalf of the band program to please do your best to participate to whatever extent you can. We are expecting about a dozen bands and each band in known to bring several hundred spectators plus the Lamphere Marching Band will perform as well as the Page 7th and 8th grade bands (performing the Anthem at the opening).  .  We need volunteers setting up, parking and welcoming guests, concessions, runners, program and shout-out sales as well as other tasks. We can find a spot that you will be comfortable with and train all helpers.  If you can help us for a few hours or perhaps all day, please contact me, another Booster Officer, or one of the band directors Mr. and Mrs. Garvey. We will have an informational meeting for volunteers on September 21st at 6:00 PM and a general meeting on September 15th at 7:00pm  at the high school choir room (next to the band room). Mark your calendars and do your best to be there.  If you can’t make the meeting but plan to help, please let us know as soon as possible.

Did you know that the Band Booster’s run the concession stand at the High school and Page football games? This is important revenue that helps enhance the band program. Everyone always seems to have a lot of fun with concessions. However there always seems to be certain dates and events that are difficult to staff. Page games for instance are at 4:15 so we need set up people to start at 3:30. High school varsity and JV are on Thursdays or Fridays at 7:00pm. All the game dates and times can be found on our sign up genius page which you can link to from the band booster section of the Lamphere bands page. Lampherebands.org.

Remember to shop lampherebandmall.com and Mr. B’s Quick Stop Marathon at 12 mile and John R. Both will send a small percentage of your purchase back to the Lamphere Band program.

2016 INVITATIONAL and PROGRAM ADVERTISING  
Attention ALL Lamphere District Band Families:  we have a great opportunity for you to raise money for your student’s band account as well as the Lamphere Bands.  If you want to avoid writing a check for future band expenses – here is an easy way to start earning money for your student (which will be held in their Band Booster student account).  During our Invitational Marching Band Competition on September 24, 2016, we will sell programs to the spectators as part of the fundraiser. This is our 17th year hosting an Invitational and one of our largest fundraisers each year.  WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS YEAR A SUCCESS!    
In addition to the Invitational Program ads, we are also selling ads at this time for our 2016/2017 concert programs and the spring MSBOA festival hosted at Lamphere.   This is a perfect opportunity to get our community involved in helping the Band Program and also getting some great recognition.  Many of the store owners love to help out once they are asked.  See the ad forms for details.  
We sell both commercial/business and personal ad space in the Invitational programs.  If you would like to see some examples of past ads, we have a few copies of old programs.  Just contact one of the Booster Officers.  We have two forms for your use.  The first form is for Personal Ads and the second form is for Commercial/Business Ads.  If you or family members want to have a special message for a band student placed in the program, use the personal ad form.  If you or your band student sells a Commercial/Business Ad, 50% of the ad’s fees will be allocated to your student’s personal band account, which can be used for marching band fees, band trips, lessons or other music-related purchases.     
Additional forms can be downloaded from the Lamphere Bands web site at www.lampherebands.org under the documents tab, picked up in the Lamphere HS Band Room during the summer rehearsals, or by e-mail.

LAMPHERE BAND BOOSTERS’ CLOTHING AND FABRIC DRIVE

The Lamphere Band Boosters have teamed up with Easter Seals to collect materials as a benefit for both Lamphere Bands and the many programs Easter Seals Promotes. 
Please bring all your old fabrics such as clothing, comforters, blankets, towels, sheets, curtains, shoes, purses and gloves. Anything made of cloth, in any condition, will be accepted.
The collection truck will be in front of Lamphere High School, 610 West 13 Mile, Madison Heights, on August 18th and 19th.Drop off is from 8 am to 8 pm.
All donations are tax deductible and donation receipts will be available at the drop.
Earlier drop off is available by contacting any of the Band Booster officers.

Band Boosters Meet and Greet Barbecue Picnic

To All Band Boosters,
The Band Booster's board of directors would like to invite all band boosters to an informal meet and greet barbecue picnic. This event is being held at the home of Matt and Lisa Burke 30029 Avondale in Madison Heights. Food and soft drinks will be provided. 
This is a great opportunity to to visit with all the band boosters you know and get to know several more. It will be fun to talk about the whole band experience and share stories about our band students with others who love music and are excited about their child's band involvement. 
This is a very informal event. Just try to bring your appetite and be ready to have fun. Our host has a pool for those that like to swim, a hot tub, game room and their property backs up to a park in case anyone would like to play frisbee, catch or any other park activities. 
This event will be for adults only and held on July 12th from 6pm to 9pm. Please RSVP at the link below.
