WHY LUHS IS ABLE TO OFFER THIS PROGRAM
This program allows credit deficient students an opportunity to graduate on time with their senior class. The GED Option 2 program uses the GED tests and other requirements to measure proficiency in lieu of high school credit for students enrolled in an alternative education program. A student who completes ALL program requirements is entitled to a traditional high school diploma. This program has been approved through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as part of its waiver to GED Testing Service. This is a voluntary program and there is an application and interview process for eligible candidates.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Attend school each day (4 hours per day – 16 hours total per week)
Be prepared for class each day, and participate in whatever projects are scheduled.
Take initiative and responsibility for your own actions and education, by displaying high motivational conduct during class.
Respect the rights and needs of other students involved in the program.
Act in a save and healthy manner.
HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS
Students will be give daily assignments to prepare for the necessary testing. Students are expected to do their best to complete homework by the deadline given. As an alternative education teacher, I understand that there are sometimes unforeseen circumstances where you will not be able to complete homework by the deadline. In these scenarios, it is my expectation that the student provide me with a reasonable explanation as to why the work isn’t completed and indicated when the work will be completed.
TESTING REQUIREMENTS
Students will need to prepare for and take all four of the GED tests regardless of their previous credits earned. In some special circumstances, students may be allowed to “skip” a test if the students’ transcript shows sufficient evidence of subject knowledge.
Students will prepare for one course at a time. We will spend roughly 1.5 months on each subject prior to taking the official GED test at Nicolet College in Rhinelander. Transportation to and from testing will be provided.
Students will be informed of the projected test date well in advance and will be expected to make personal schedule adjustments to attend their scheduled testing time. In most cases, students will either test on Monday or Thursday. There may be situations that students will need to test in Minocqua or LdF, again students will know well in advance of these dates and times.
