Hello,

My name is Ellen Lester and I am the Library Media Specialist at Greenwood and Willow Elementary Schools.  I have been working for the La Grande School District since 1998 and working in this position since 2007.

I love working with the students and staff here in the La Grande School District.  I am in the perfect position to share my love of books and reading with them.

Happy Reading...

"She is too fond of books and it has addled her brain." - Louisa May Alcott

"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend.  Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."
                                        -Groucho Marx

What Am I Reading Lately?

  • Good Summer Series... Acclaimed adult writer James Patterson has been writing young adult books too!  His latest is the Witch & Wizard series, the story of a brother and sister who find they have incredible powers that will help them in the changing world. A good series to keep 5th graders reading over the summer!

  • A Favorite!! The Candymakers by Wendy Mass is reminiscent of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but takes on a new life of its' own after the first chapter or two.  This is a story about four children who have been selected to compete in a candy making contest.  It is a mystery, a story of friendship, and unique in that it is told and re-told in four different view points.  GREAT SUMMER READ!!
