"THE CURE FOR BOREDOM IS CURIOSITY.
THERE IS NO CURE FOR CURIOSITY."
-Dorothy Parker

Independent thinking is never easy, but it's what I want you to learn to do throughout the course of this class.  The way you seek information, and the way you apply that information in the decision-making process is what makes you a dependent or an independent thinker. Being an independent thinker means:

  • Making sense of the world based on your own observations and experiences, rather than just depending on the word of others.
  • Trusting your own ability to make judgments, even if they contradict what others say.
  • Having the confidence to voice your opinion in front of a group.
  • Being an active learner.
  • Asking a lot of questions

-Philosopher Jacob Needleman
