Lake Anne ES 2nd grade Spanish Immersion teacher Sra. Consuelo Bachelet is traveling to Nicaragua 2/18-2/28 as part of the Smithsonian's Bridging the Americas program. She was chosen by the Smithsonian as a teacher representative to the program and will take part in the filming of a documentary while she is there. Students in her class participate in the project by learning about the migratory patterns of birds in our area that spend the winter in Nicaragua. Sra. Bachelet will be hand delivering the materials students prepared during their lessons to Nicaraguan students on Ometepe Island. The classes collected money to purchase school supplies for the children and also to make t-shirts from the bird art they created on the computer. Congratulations to Sra. Bachelet and we can't wait to hear about her amazing adventure!
