Frances Ginsberg Scholarship

Frances Ginsberg graduated from Ladue HS in 1973 and pursued a career as an opera singer.  She passed away in 2010 after a battle with cancer and several of her choir classmates decided to set up a scholarship in her honor.

The Vocal Music Teacher will assign this yearly award to the student who best demonstrates the scholarship criteria.

The Frances Ginsberg Vocal Music Scholarship Criteria

Academic Excellence

        1.    Student must participate in at least three years of choral music classes.

2.    Student must earn an academic grade of 4.0 in all choral music classes.

3.    Student must maintain a rolling cumulative academic grade point average of 3.0.

Promise of Achievement

1.    Student must exemplify a high degree of creativity in the musical approach to performance.

2.    Student must demonstrate advanced skills in working with peers and adults.

3.    Student must demonstrate a high degree of musicianship.

4.    Student must plan to participate in vocal music studies or music performance after graduation.

Significant Contribution

1.    Student must provide exemplary leadership in vocal music experiences.

2.    Student must demonstrate a willingness to assist in preparations for music activities (sectional rehearsals, performances, fund raising events, trips, parent/student meetings, special events, etc.).

3.    Student must be responsible and trustworthy, and give unselfishly of his/her abilities.

4.    Student must be involved in extra-curricular vocal music activites: ie. MCDA Honor Choirs, Solo/Small Ensemble Activities, Show Choir, Spring Musical, field trips, school concerts, etc.
