Rick Riordan, the author of The Lightning Thief, uses alot of great imagery to really pull you into the book. When Percy describes his mother's cooking you can imagine it in front of you. "And not just any cookies, my moms homemade blue chocalate chip cookies, buttery and hot, with the chips still melting" (Riordan,60).  Or when Percy describes his dreams; "it was storming on the beach, and two beautiful animals, a white stallion and a golden eagle, were trying to kill each other at the edge of the surf" (Riordan,41) Throughout the book, the author uses plenty of imagery, which really makes it a pleasure to read.
