Thank You - Henry and Anita Geldof and family would like to thank the congregation for their prayers and support and words of encouragement over the last few months. It has been a long recovery and at this time it appears as though things are improving significantly for which we are thankful. You have been a wonderful blessing to us and we praise God for all of you.
Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Wigger Meindersma, Theresa Salomons, Ruth Sluys and Ann Swier.
Remember our missionaries around the world.
We welcome Pastor Jack Hielema to lead our morning service and Pastor Andy Geleynse will lead the evening service. Pastor Mike is on holidays.
We are very pleased to announce to the congregation that we collected 535 lbs of food for the Lacombe Food Bank! We are looking at putting together a new Picture Directory for Bethel and are asking for each family to submit a family picture. If you do not have a recent picture Pauline Bos will be taking pictures after church on November 15 and 22. Please include with your picture the following information so we can be sure to have accurate information for everyone; All names (for correct spelling), birthdays of everyone (we don't require the years of the adults), anniversary date, address, phone number. Also cell phone and e-mail address if you would like to have them included. Please put picture with information in Natalie Rosendal's mail box by November 8, 2009
Time for the next issue already. We got a bit late last month so this one comes up rather quickly. We are hoping to focus on our Seniors in this issue so we are looking for write-ups and stories specifically from our Seniors. Would one of you be willing to draw for our cover page? We are also looking for updates from the different ministries and groups that have started up in the last month. Please write up something - even a short paragraph and keep the congregation informed so we can pray and rejoice together. Our deadline will be next Monday, Oct. 26th in order to have the newsletter in your boxes by Nov. 1st. Please place your notes in the newsletter box or email it to any of the team. Ann Wildeboer, Harriet Luymes, Anita Geldof and Laura Duckett.
Will meet after this evening worship service at the home of Brett Vandenborn’s.

During the month of December, one way the Ministry to Seafarers shows Christ's love to the crews of cargo ships arriving in our BC ports is to distribute small gifts to the crew members. However, we depend on people like you to supply these gifts. A list of suggested gift items is posted on the bulletin board. If you find the shopping wrapping inconvenient, you may make a cash donation instead. Please send your cheque, made payable to the Ministry to Seafarers, to Christmas at Sea, Ministry to Seafarers, 401 East Waterfront Road, Vancouver, BC V6A 4G9. On the cheque's memo line, please write Christmas at Sea. Volunteers will use the funds received to purchase items and make up gifts for distribution.(See our website, www.ministrytosearfarers.com for more information about the ministry.)
Pastor Manuel was shot and killed by FARC guerrillas in Colombia on September 21st. When the guerrillas scheduled a visit with Pastor Manuel, he believed the meeting was in response to his request to officially have a church. However, when they arrived, Pastor Manuel was shot five times outside his home while his family was inside. His wife, Gloria, ran outside to the body. She then grabbed her Bible and preached to those who came near. Her 10-year-old son tried to comfort her, saying, "Don't worry, Dad died for Christ and now he is with Christ." Pastor Manuel and his wife had been pastoring a church in Chopal village, south of San Jose del Guaviare for about eight years. Many churches in the area had been closed by FARC guerrillas but Pastor Manuel decided to open the church regardless of the threats and risks. In April, he was part of an evangelistic event at which three FARC guerrillas and seven members of the paramilitary militia accepted Christ. Praise God for this family's faith. Ask God to comfort Pastor Manuel's wife and children. Pray that Pastor Manuel's courageous testimony will draw nonbelievers into fellowship with Christ.
