Outdoor School March 15-19, 2021

Covid Update--It's always been the case that student safety is our top priority so everything about Cispus is really dependent on the status of the middle school (and high school) in the weeks leading up to our scheduled departure.  Like all the schools affected, we will follow the guidelines of the district reopening plan. For the time being we are proceeding on the hopeful assumption that school will reopen for in-person instruction, but if conditions warrant, we will adapt accordingly.

Adult Volunteers and HS Counselors: Applications Coming Soon

Adult Volunteers, please apply here  adult volunteers will be selected some time before Winter Break. We typically need 6-12 adults to be instructors, program assistants, nurses, and other jobs. We also need short term help before and after the week.

High School Counselors, please apply here  Counselors will be selected by the end of Winter Break, but alternates are frequently needed right up until the day we leave for camp. If you are at all inclined to to apply, it's not too late.

RUNING START: The week of of March 15-19 is finals week for Winter quarter at Clark.  You should check the finals schedule as soon as you know your schedule to see which classes have finals and which ones don't. It is sometimes possible to arrange for an alternate time to take a final, and some classes may not even have finals.  If you want to staff Cispus, but are unsure of your Winter quarter schedule, apply here anyway and we will work with you as things become clear. Of course all of this is contingent on the status of the middle school leading up to the week of camp.

Does Your Child Take Medications?
If your child regularly uses prescription or non prescription medications, you will need take action to make sure you child has access to those medications at Cispus.

Doctor's Note: No matter whether the medication is prescription or over the counter, you will need to have a doctors note for the medication to be used st Cispus.

Prescriptions: It is best if you can get a fresh prescription to send to Cispus. See the "Making Sense of Meds" handout below for details. If you can arrange for this during the summer it can take some of the stress out of the start of the school year.

Over the Counter Medications: These still require a signed doctor's note. It is necessary to send a new, unopened container of whatever medication is needed. A good guideline to use is send this type of medication only if your child has used it in the last three months.  Unnecessary medications slow the check in process and generate a lot of extra work for our school and volunteer staff.
