Hello! We have an awesome 10th grade class this year!! So far, we have begun reading through "The 6 Most Important Decisions You'll Ever Make". This book is a sort of follow up to "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" which our 9th graders read. We did a quick review of these 7 habits and built a tree in the classroom with the 7 habits labeled on them. This was a fun activity the kids did together. We also have been beginning to discuss what kinds of careers that they may be interested in pursuing.

Students are working on their academic portfolios as well as planning for academic night.  Many have chose their topic and will be practicing in coming weeks.  Yesterday we tried out a new teambuilding activity called Fruit basket.  Kind of a crazy game, but students had a lot of fun.  See pictures below.

We have finished the detailed study of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.  All that is remaining is the summary and the final assessment.  However, we are taking time from the study to prepare for Academic Presentation Night.  Some students are using this time very wisely while others are not.

We have completed 5 of the 7 habits from Sean Covey's book.  We're in the middle of the 6th habit, "Synergize".  We took time out last Friday to re-examine our Values and mission statements.  After studying the intervening habits this review and revision of our core values proved to be quite useful.

We have finished the first two chapters in the "7 habits" book.  The students learned how their paradigms affect their of the world.  They should be more aware of their own paradigms and more able to take control of the world views.  They discovered the concept of a "Personal Bank Account" and what it means to make deposits and take withdrawals from the PBA.

We introduced the first habit, "Be Proactive" and started to recognize the differences between Proactive and Reactive paradigms.

We are starting on "Seven Habits of highly Effective Teens" by Sean Covey.  Sean Covey is the son of the famous Steven R Covey who wrote "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People".  We have one student who still doesn't have a book, it should be here  early this coming week.
The students wrote an analysis of their school history and aspirations and will use this paper in the coming weeks to discover their current thought patterns.  The 7 Habits book is thought provoking and will guide the reader through a process that can change their his/her life.
This coming week we will start to discuss paradignms and introduce the firs habit, "be Proactive"
