April Peterson



Mrs. Peterson has been teaching in Kuna for 16 years, originally 6-12 bands and more recently the 7-8 band, choir and digital music classes. She was born in Boise, ID, and currently lives in Meridian while teaching at Kuna Middle School.  Ms. Peterson grew up in the Meridian School District attending Lake Hazel Middle School, Meridian High School and then Centennial High School where she played clarinet and percussion in the various ensembles and sang and accompanied Avante Guard Jazz Choir.  She holds a bachelors of music degree from Boise State University, and a masters of arts and letters degree from the American Band College of Southern Oregon University.  While there she performed under such wonderful composer/conductors as Alfred Reed, Philip Sparke, Francis McBeth, Robert W. Smith, James Curnow, Jim Swearingen, and many others.  

Mrs. Peterson is a member of MENC (Music Educators National Conference), ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), IMEA (Idaho Music Education Association) and WBDI (Women Band Directors International).  She has held offices with the Treasure Valley Honors Meet, Idaho Music Educators, was a staff member at the Western International Band Clinic, and is currently the founder of the South West Idaho Middle School Honor Choir and treasurer of the District III Music Educators Association.

Mrs. Peterson is married to her husband Bryan and together they raise their three wonderful children Kyle (United States Navy!), Zoey and Derek.
