The Course

This course is about identifying essential resources for hazardous materials and the way of managing them. It includes identification of both physical and chemical hazards and their characteristics. The chemicals are listed according to their toxicity and the way of transporting the hazardous materials are explained. It is described the critical features of major environmental legislation. In this course the recommended appropriate personal protective equipment for specific hazards is explained as well as selecting the appropriate controls for handling and storing hazardous materials. Waste treatment is also an essential subject that is involved in this course via identifying the regulations and marking systems that affect the transportation of hazardous materials.          

The aim of the course is to teach the students to go towards Green Chemistry

Entry level skills

The student must be able to read various provided sources in English and write short essays and participate in class discussions. The student should memorize the chemical formula of each element in the periodic table with their oxidation numbers.
