The Course

Organic chemistry is a branch of chemistry that deals with carbon compounds. The course describes the nomenclature, structure, properties, stability, reactions, and preparation of organic compounds, which are classified into different groups based on their functional groups such as: aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers, phenols, carboxylic acids and its functional derivaties, aldehydes ansd ketones, and amines.
Entry Level skills: The student must be able to read and understand the topics in English inorder to understand the refrences provided in relevant to the course. In addition of that, the student must have good basic grounding in principles of organic chemistry. Topics include bonding and structure, orbital overlapping, conformations, acids and bases, reactivity and reactions.
