The Course

In this course (module) basic concepts of nuclear physics with emphasis on nuclear structure and radiation interactions with matter. Nuclear forces; shell structure of the nucleus; alpha, beta, and gamma radioactive decays; interactions of nuclear radiations (charged particles, gammas, and neutrons) with matter; nuclear reactions; fission and fusion.
Neutrons and their role in nuclear reactors, slowing down of neutrons, reactors and their main components, shielding and safety, some applications of nuclear science; the elementary particles , and the fundamental forces in nature
