The Course

This course covers principles of microbiology . Topics include the types of microorganisms and various groups of bacteria, their structure, physiology, genetics, microbial pathogenicity, infectious diseases, immunology, and  practical applications. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills including:
  1.  microscopy, aseptic technique, staining, culture methods, and identification of microorganisms. 
  2.  characteristics of microbial organisms; bacterial, fungal,protozoa and viral
  3.  Physical and chemical microbial control
  4. Collection and handling of laboratory specimens.
  5.  Microbial genetics, mutation.
  6.   diseases.
  7.  Classification of microbial life
  8.  Characteristics of prokaryotes
  9.  Characteristics of eukaryotes
