The Course

Food microbiology is the science that study microorganisms found in food or used as food or in the production of food and is deals with;
1- Relation to food such as their role in food spoilage leading to poisoning or   
    illness in humans
2- Methods for limiting spoilage and growth of disease causing microorganisms in
    food during processing and storage
3- Food safety to check the transmission of food –borne disease, their role in
    fermentation to produce a variety of fermented foods such as (sauerkraut,  
    pickles, yoghurt….).
4- Microbes as source of foods like single cell protein and edible mushrooms.
