English Renaissance is one of the major periods in the history of English Literature, and drama specifically. The importance of this period stems from the fact that in this period drama witnessed its heyday. Different playwrights with a heap of works were produced in the age. After lingering for a long time on one-sided content, that is religion, drama in this age witnessed a variety of subject-matters and styles. Moreover, the most important playwrights of English Literature lived in this period, namely, Shakespeare, Marlowe, Jonson, Molten,…, etc. In this course, students are going to study two plays, the first is Shakespeare’s King Lear and the second is Ben Johnson's Volpone.
