Hyemin Lee MPH PhD (she/her/hers) is currently a senior researcher at the Jeju Institute of Public Health & Health Policy. She received her doctoral degree from Korea University in February 2022 (Dissertation title: Gender minority stress and health among Korean transgender adults - Rainbow Connection Project II -). She also received her master's degree from Korea University in July 2016 (Dissertation title: Lookism hurts: Appearance discrimination and its association with poor self-rated health among emerging adulthood in South Korea).

Her current research primarily focuses on sexual and gender minority health in South Korea. She has participated in the Rainbow Connection Project (RCP), which is a series of research projects using epidemiological study methods with the goal to understand and promote the health of sexual and gender minority individuals in South Korea: RCP I (LGB adults; as a researcher), RCP II (Transgender adults; as a project manager), RCP III (Transgender adults; as a co-project manager), and RCP III-cohort (The first cohort study of transgender adults in Asian countries).

As of November 2022, she has published 20 research papers regarding sexual and gender minority health (*14 of 20 as a first author or corresponding author) in national and international peer-reviewed journals, such as LGBT Health, International Journal of Transgender Health, Sleep Health, and AIDS Care. She has received a 2-year doctoral fellowship (Basic Science Research Program; June 2020-May2022; 2020R1A6A3A13060799) from the National Research Foundation of South Korea (Research title: Transgender health research in South Korea). She presented her papers at international academic conferences including the Annual Meeting of the Society for Epidemiologic Research (2015), International Congress of Psychology (2016), National LGBTQ Health Conference (2017), the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association Annual Conference on LGBTQ Health (2019), National Transgender Health Summit (2019), and the American Public Health Association's 2019 Annual Meeting and Expo (2019).
