Where is the new airport located?
The new international airport is located towards the south of the city and is about 19 km from the current Begumpet airport.
When will the new airport be operational?
00:01 hours on Sunday, 23rd March 2008.

Does the airport have a shuttle service to transport passengers?
Yes, the airport will operate shuttles, from four pickup points in the city.        The fee is Rs 95 (all inclusive one way fare per passenger).
Can you provide more information on the shuttles?
The airport authorities plan to operate 30 Air Conditioned coaches, with a frequency of 30 minutes, to/from select locations.    The locations are:
  • Keyes High School - Secunderabad (39 km to airport)
  • Paryatak Bhavan - Begumpet (32 km)
  • City College, Charminar (21 km)
  • Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Mehdipatnam (27 km)

The buses operate with a frequency of 30 minutes between 3:30 AM and 11:30 PM and with a frequency of 60 minutes between 11:30 PM and 3:30 AM.
Does APSRTC provide bus service to the airport?
Yes,  APSRTC provides bus services from various points in the city.    The following table provides the details on the frequency and the starting locations.    The fare varies by distance and is usually around Rs 12- Rs 15.

Is APSTRC planning to provide better bus services to the airport?
APSRTC is planning on deploying luxury bus services at a cost of Rs 60 lakh each,  to ply passengers between the airport and various points in the city.        These buses shall run alongside the regular bus service and shall charge Rs 99 oneway.
Can I take a cab to the airport?
Yes,   the cab service shall be operational on March 16.     About 3000 cabs are expected to be operational within three months of commencement of airport operations.      These cabs shall charge based on the distance travelled,   with a tariff of Rs 15 per kilometer.

How long does it take to get to the airport from Kondapur/Madhapur, by road?
It can take upto 2 hours during peak hours (7 AM - 12 Noon, 4 PM - 10 PM) and 1.5 hours (90 minutes) during non-peak hours (12 NOON to 4 PM,  10 PM - 7 AM)
Can I take a shared auto from the airport?
Shared autos or autos seating more than five passengers have been banned, effective April 1st, to ease congestion.
What is the auto fare from the new airport to Kondapur?
Auto fare can vary within a wide range.   A few individuals have bargained for Rs 250, while other individuals have paid as much as Rs 750.
What is the nearest metro station?
Falaknuma is closest to Shamshabad.   However, you will have to arrange for transport from Falaknuma,  as the station and the airport are quite distant from each other.
Can I drive to the airport and leave my car at the airport?
Yes.  The airport has ample parking.      The airport operator charges Rs 350 per day per vehicle.
