Collaborating with Students to Improve Communication Skills (Gr. 6-12)

PRESENTER: Rebecca Meyer - KMLHS

In a technological age where communication is frequently delivered through a text, snap, or emoji, there is an important need to improve our verbal communication skills. This session will provide teaching techniques to improve student communication based off of the research done by Jackie Acree Walsh and Beth Dankert Sattes, authors of Questioning for Classroom Discussion. Through this interactive session, attendees will leave with several methods to improve communication skills for peer to peer conversations to whole class discussion.

Rebecca Meyer is a 2010 graduate of Martin Luther College. Rebecca was first assigned as a tutor to Michigan Lutheran Seminary followed by serving as a seventh grade teacher at Christ-St. Peter in Milwaukee, WI for three years. The conversations and insights we have create a memorable classroom environment.
