Developing Communication Skills across the Disciplines - (K-2)

PRESENTER: Greta Scharp - Mount Calvary, Waukesha

“You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere.” – Lee Iacocca   In this interactive sectional, we will explore ways to foster the 21 Century skill of Communication in primary grade students. We will discuss both implicit and explicit communication strategies that address the CCSS ELA Speaking and Listening Standards.

Bio:  Greta Scharp teaches first grade at Mount Calvary in Waukesha.  She graduated from MLC and taught in a variety of settings from inner-city to rural before achieving her M.ED. in Teacher Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University in 2011.  Currently, she is in the second year of her teacher leadership doctoral program through Concordia University in Portland, OR.  Greta and her husband Dan live in Menomonee Falls and have two boys – Matthew, starting MLC in fall and Jacob, a sophomore at KML this coming fall.
