On a sunny Sunday morning on 24th March, there was a superb turn out for the Village Spring Clean. The Village Hall car park was thronging with Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts, Leaders, parents, together with approximately 18 other residents/volunteers.

As a result, 19 bags and assorted other rubbish was collected from within the Village, from Kinoulton Lane, the Old Fosseway, Hickling Lane to Grove Farm, Owthorpe Lane to Wild’s Bridge, Hall Lane, the Grantham Canal from Kinoulton Bridge to Hickling Bridge and Kinoulton Bridge to Irish Jack’s Bridge and Vimy Ridge Drive.

A large quantity of the rubbish collected is plastic bottles, alcohol and soft drinks cans (particularly Guinness on Kinoulton Lane), crisp/sweet packets and takeaway wrappers, simply thrown out the car window? This is supplemented by what can only be termed fly tipping including carpet underlay and other assorted items.

A big thank you to everyone who turned out and to Susanne for providing the home baked cakes and tea/coffee/hot chocolate on our return to the Village Hall.

Thank you all, but if only it wasn’t necessary and everyone simply put their rubbish in the bins provided or took it home to their dustbins.
