Hello! My name is Kim Andersen.
I am a native North Carolinian, born in Hamlet, NC. I grew up in Rockingham, NC, went to college at NC State, and have lived most of my adult life in North Carolina. That said, I love to travel, have been all over the world, and have had excellent times wherever I have gone from the largest cities to the most remote outposts.
I am into hiking, camping, backpacking, running, cycling, kayaking, music, and animals. I appreciate the outdoors and the natural world but also really enjoy the luxuries and comforts of city life (like restaurants and air conditioning, public transportation and running water)!
I retired from my career as the Audiovisual Materials archivist in the State Archives of North Carolina in 2018 after having worked as an archivist in a variety of capacities for 31 years. In retirement I travel, play clarinet in the Oakwood Second Line Band, serve on the Board of the Uwharrie Trailblazers, work part-time as a museum educator at the City of Raleigh Museum, and try to figure out what the next adventure might be for me professionally.
